Harbury has always been known as a very friendly club and as well as success on the field the club is keen to have an active social side. During the summer months the playing side has been reorganised by Dave Andrews and a new player coach Sean Geary has been appointed helped by Tony Cowley who has been responsible for much of the recent success the club has enjoyed. Club Captain Matthew Knight who due to injury is unable to play at present is working hard with the coaches and team captain Mark Finch aiming to have another successful playing season.
The clubhouse has been completely refurbished over the summer which again is very much due to the hard work by many of the members. The result of all this work means that Harbury Rugby Club boasts one of the best playing and social facilities of any junior club in Warwickshire.
I, myself joined the club in 1976 as a player when I moved down to the Midlands from Yorkshire playing under two excellent captains Dyl Rogers and Ian Winchester. As a rugby enthusiast – I also run a successful after dinner speaking company Look Who’s Talking — I have had many and I look forward to many more good times with Harbury Rugby Club. I wish the club a successful, and enjoyable season.
